2013 installationinteractivecommercial Real-time interactive software installation — LCD × 2 · LED · Kinect · 8m × 3m

For the launch of the Nike Free 5.0, we built a real-time interactive installation in the street-facing window of Nike's Shanghai flagship on Huaihai Road — one of seven global flagships.

An 8 × 3 metre screen matrix was set into the window. A Kinect camera tracked the body movements of passersby — waving, jumping, kicking — and the system responded instantly: a 3D shoe bent and twisted in sync with the body, while the background fractured into kaleidoscopic motion graphics.

No need to enter the store. People interacted simply by standing on the sidewalk. As more stopped to watch, some began testing exaggerated poses to see how the shoe and patterns would follow. The immediate visual feedback made it hard to walk away.

Commercial project, client: Nike. In collaboration with Super Nature Design and independent programmer Hu Xiaobo.
